Efficient Exterior LED Lighting
Existing Industrial Facility Exterior Lighting Upgrade
Scope of Work
As facilities age, so does their technology and infrastructure. LAS was approached by the client to investigate the existing infrastructure and make recommendations on installing enough lighting that is cost-effective and environmentally friendly. After reviewing the installation, it was recommended that the old circuity be isolated and removed (at the discretion of the client), as from a control perspective it was insufficient and improper modifications over several years deemed the system unsafe for use in its intended application. Further, after simulating lighting conditions, it was advised that a total of 16x 100W, ±6500lumen LED floodlights be installed to achieve optimal lighting conditions.
The Solution
After acceptance by the client, LAS proceeded to install over 800m of new reticulation cabling for the outside lighting system across two separate buildings, each with their own, balanced three-phase supply. Control circuitry was installed to allow for both automatic as well as manual operation based on time-of-day. Hand operation is available for light and circuit testing, as well as if automatic components forming part of the control circuit fail. Further, the control circuit included suitable and sufficient surge protection to protect the LED lights. Distribution to each lighting segment was achieved using single phase circuitry.
16 LED lights to design specification were installed, with suitable IP65 re-usable jointing kits, and adjusted for optimal performance. The lights also come with a 5-year linear performance warranty for true value on investment for the client. Using specialised access equipment, LAS completed the installation in approximately 4-Days, in-line with local installation requirements.
